What about taking a short cruise--the cost is comparable--about $200/adult with every 8 cabins we would get a discount on one cabin to offset some cost. Gluten-free is not a problem; lots of stuff to do . What do y'all think about that?
This way everyone is entertained, we don't all have to do the same stuff and nobody gets stuck with the dishes or cooking. We would leave from Miami or Ft. Canaveral FL. The two destinations I talked about were Nassau and a private island in the Bahamas

I said it earlier in our nice and lengthy convo on the phone and I'll say it again. I just don't feel that cruise activities and little kids mix. Little kids tend to hit the hay early (unless they are on the fast track to being college students) so my oppositions are thus:
ReplyDeleteA) Leaving them alone in a cruise cabin while we adults go and enjoy the night life doesn't seem real safe and
B) Having one person have to stay behind to watch the little rugrats doesn't seem to be a fun option either and
C) The purpose of a family reunion is to be together as a group as much as possible and I don't see many opportunities affording us to do that on a cruise.
I LOVE cruises. We have been on three of them. But they are more expensive that they advertise. The cost of the cruise typically does not include any drinks. Not even soft drinks. And adult beverages are very expensive. Last cruise we went on (8-days) our on-board charges added up to $500. And we were being very careful not to spend.
ReplyDeleteSo... I think this would be too expensive for our group.
I have to agree with Teri & Aunt Barb on this...
